Home/About
The ArtistGlass artist, lifelong teacher, and the person behind every room in the atlas. Working out of a home studio with three Hot Shot kilns.
Glass is kiln-formed with sheets of glass, frit, vitrograph, and stringers, and a lot of imagination. It's translucent, so a piece is like a painting full of light, color, and texture. Only the kiln reveals the end product.
"I love color and the beauty of nature. That's where I get my inspiration."
Glass is versatile. It can be 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional, with no limits. Kiln scheduling is paramount: knowing how long to hold a piece at a soaking temperature, what ultimate temperature it needs, and how slowly to bring it back down so the glass doesn't break from thermal shock. I work out of my home studio with three Hot Shot kilns as my collaborators. Vitrograph, pulling glass into various shapes, is a huge aspect of my work.
I love color and the beauty of nature. That's where I get my inspiration. I've been a lifelong teacher and a glass enthusiast for the past 13 years. I have always loved art, and I have taught art for years.
Annie's home base is her own studio in The Villages, Florida, where she takes on one or two students at a time by appointment. She has also guest-taught at Hot Shot Oven & Kiln Studio in Wisconsin and hopes to teach there again. Beginners are welcome at any class.
